Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
White House Call
The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in the capital.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the individual that instructors desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to pause refugee claims and halt issuing visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she aimed to meet with the family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
