Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
