Fresh Information Emerge Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light about the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to accounts of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
