Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global break, however can the English top division leaders recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
