US performer Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.
